Hope you all have a fabulous weekend!!!
Today has been a GREAT day! We started off our day with our usual routine and did our usual project (today they made really cute puppies)! After we had our typical daily events done, it was time to start having fun with our Christmas theme! Each of the kids made a Reindeer Puppet. It was a lot of hard work, but they all stuck with it and they turned out GREAT!! After their craft, it was time to have our gift exchange. IT WAS A HIT! Everyone liked giving away something of theirs to one of their friends...it was AWESOME! After the cookies were made and it was time for me to start making lunch, some added fun we had was to look back at earlier years as I let the kids watch old Christmas Programs for LLCP. We got to see some old friends and some of our current friends when they were VERY little! Lots of giggles and smiles were had! Lauren and Ella thought it was funny to see their big brother, Josh, on TV. Right before naptime, we took a vote on what movie to watch this afternoon. The choices were "Olive, the Other Reindeer", "The Polar Express" and "Dora's Christmas". The Polar Express won by one vote, so we will plan to start the movie right after naptime. During the movie, we plan to eat our cookies with a big glass of milk (just like Santa)!
Hope you all have a fabulous weekend!!!

Let's just say that if we had a bottle of soap this morning, we all could have had our showers done for the day! Yep, we got caught in the rainstorm this morning after taking Reagan to Playground! Talk about a wet mess!! We were SOAKED!!! But, the kids were all giggles and thought it was hilarious!
Needless to say, the weather definitely put a damper on our day of activities, so we just went with the flow and did what the kids wanted to do, which was to play with marble works, pretend the house was Star Wars (including EVERYONE, Kaitlyn was R2D2) and by having a picnic lunch downstairs with a fun cartoon on TV. Even though it wasn't our day we had planned, it was still fun and something new! Tori was our helper and led us through Calendar Time and then we talked about tomorrow's BIG plans...CHRISTMAS IN JULY!!! If anyone wants or needs some Christmas wrapping paper for their gifts, I will have it out this afternoon, so just take whatever amount you think you may need to wrap presents! Again, please remember, we are not buying gifts, just 'regiving' what we have for the person's name your child has. We hope to start on our stockings later this afternoon. Also, don't forget, we are celebrating this BIG DAY in our PAJAMAS!!! Tomorrow is also Show & Tell Day, so Wednesday's are NOT meant to be normal, so we kept with the idea of "wacky" instead! First of all, Jen (Kaitlyn's mom) brought in some BIG sheets of paper for the kids, so right after breakfast, they all enjoyed creating their own masterpieces!
After we dropped Reagan off, our helper of the day (Ella) wasn't here yet, so we went right into our project. All of the children had a Rabbit Maze and needed to help the bunny get to his home. After project time, we had a side stop to make at Prairie school to get Harrison and Tori's potential enrollment forms rolling (that's a whole other story). Once we were back home, the kids played outside (until they were drenched in sweat again) and then everyone came inside and cooled off while I prepared lunch. After lunch, we did Calendar Time with Ella and read a couple of books and sang "Little Bunny Foo Foo" together. Now the house is quiet and all are resting. Tomorrow is a planned PnP Day, but with 70% chance of rain, we may have to be creative tomorrow, we'll ju Today was BOUNCE HOUSE DAY and boy did we have fun and get VERY hot and sweaty! It didn't take long for that humidity to set in, and when it did, it was just yucky outside! We did enjoy the Bounce House for awhile though, and then the kids were asking when they could go back inside (I'm ready for some fall like weather, already)!
Harrison was our helper and led us through Calendar Time and picked out a book for us to read. He decided we needed a "fun" book, so we read and acted out, "If You're Happy and You Know It". The book has quite a few more sayings than the original song, and the kids LOVED it! We did make a pit stop at Walmart this morning on the way home from dropping Reagan off. I was in need of more cleaning supplies (since we have another showing tonight) and we wanted to check out a few of the school supplies. I'll have the supply list ready for the August Newsletter (which will hopefully be out soon)! Hope you have a great Tuesday It was a "mini" daycare day, since we were so low on kids!! Harrison and Tori enjoyed an extra night with their grandparents and won't be home until later today. Sydney and Ally are still at home enjoying some summer fun with Cathy and Lauren and Ella came late today, since Lauren had a dentist appointment. We only had three kiddos here for breakfast this morning!!! WOW!!! Talk about a quiet house!
Owen was our helper (since he was the only available one) and he led the way for Kaitlyn and I. We started talking about Furry Little Animals today, too! We made a kitten puppet and added a soft, furry nose to it and some soft, furry fur to pet. Speaking of kittens, Luke and Princess are at the farm now! We check on them each day, but thought it was time for them to get used to "farm life" and start working on their mouser skills! ;-) Tomorrow is BOUNCE HOUSE DAY, so don't forget to have those socks for the bouncer! I'm hopeful the weather will cooperate! Thursday we will have a PnP DAY and on Friday, we will have our Christmas in July Party!!! Notes are in the cubby about Friday's fun day!! Our family had a WONDERFUL weekend as we celebrated with Grandpa and all of his friends and family. It was so nice to see some old faces we haven't seen in many years! Grandpa was overwhelmed with happiness and is quite the emotional ol' man! We all feel blessed that he is here with us and doing so well. Enough money was raised to cover all of the cost of the trips to and from the hospital, and grandpa wants to make a donation to the Issak Walton League as well. I think he was 'blown away' with the turnout (as we all were) and just happy we could all be together Lauren was our helper today and got us through the morning with 10 jumping jacks and then led us through calendar. Our project was talking about playing outside in the water and how much fun it is. The kids had to look at two pictures and find five things that were different in the pictures. After they found on the differences, they got to color the pictures in.
Since we cancelled PnP and Water Day because of shortened time with swim lessons and the extreme heat, we made a stop at HyVee to get some popcorn to go along with our movie this afternoon. I rented Tangled for the children to watch this afternoon, so as soon as we get our rest time in, we'll be snuggling up on the couch for a fun movie afternoon and some yummy popcorn! Don't forget, daycare is CLOSED tomorrow so I can run all over town to get supplies for Grandpa Frank's benefit luncheon on Saturday and to head out of town by mid day so we can start cooking all of the meat we have to prepare for the benefit. We are VERY thankful the place we are having this at is AIR CONDITIONED! Yeah!!!! We are looking forward to a fun weekend with extended family and friends and Grandpa is excited to see some old faces Tori was our helper today and led us through 15 burpees for Exercise Time and then got us all the way through Calendar Time. Once again, our weather was HOT and SUNNY!!! Because of the sweltering heat, we are once again inside for the day, now that we are done with swim lessons for the day.
Our project today was to decorate our very own bicycle and then each child glued on their wheels. We have some VERY creative bikes to look at. Everyone shared what their bike looks like at home and whether or not they ride with two wheels or training wheels. We also learned a Bike Rhyme during Circle Time, too. Don't forget, with the shortened week, due to Grandpa Frank's Benefit, tomorrow will be our last day for the week. Due to the HEAT, we will NOT be doing PnP Day or Water Day. We will however, have a special MOVIE DAY tomorrow afternoon. Tomorrow is also our last day of swim lessons. If anyone wants to come watch them tomorrow, give me a call and I can let you know where we will be. Show & Tell bags are on the ledge at pick up time today, I think e HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO REAGAN!!! She turned 9 today and she brought Barbie and Soccer cupcakes that were DELICIOUS!!! Everyone sang to Reagan after lunch and enjoyed the yummy dessert!
Since it was Reagan's big day, she was our helper today and led us through 10 burpees and got us through Calendar Time too. We did get outside FIRST thing this morning (right after breakfast). We were afraid if we didn't get outside early that we wouldn't be able to get out there at all. Even at 8:00 this morning, it was VERY hot. The kids were ready to come in after a short time outside, and to tell you that truth, I didn't blame them...it was H.O.T. Then it was off to swim lessons for the rest of the morning. Ella and I sat in the "sauna" while the kids were in the nice cool water! I wish my hair would get as cute as Ella's in this hot and humid air! She got more and more compliments as the morning went on and the curls got tighter! ;-) Needless to say, I think we are in for the remainder of the day today. We have a small group this afternoon, so we'll see what kind of fun we can find after naptime. That is what it felt like today, us melting!!! It was SOOOO hot during swim lessons, but the kids that were in swim lessons, enjoyed the heat when their lessons were over! Ella and I were hugging their cold and wet bodies to cool off and they enjoyed our body heat! lol
Owen was our helper today, so he led us through Calendar Time. We didn't work on our project yet, simply because our morning was cut short with leaving early for swim lessons. With this heat though, we won't be going back outside this afternoon, so we will have plenty of time to work on our Color By Number worksheet. We all talked about our favorite activities to do while playing outside. Have a super night and STAY COOL!!!! We may have to find a nice cool treat to eno WHAT a busy day we have had!! We started off our day RIGHT after breakfast with Reagan leading us through Exercise and Calendar Time. Then we talked about our final African Animal, the giraffe! The kids all colored a giraffe and gave it clothespin legs and a brown tail (they are REALLY cute)!
While we waited for the Bricker girls to get to daycare, the kids played with the kittens to let them enjoy some exercise first thing this morning too! Those two kittens are spoiled rotten and all of the kids just LOVE playing with them! Once we were all ready to leave, we took off for the FISH PARK in Ely. There the kids enjoyed tag, hide and seek and just playing on the equipment and swinging. The park is a newer park, so there wasn't a lot of shade, but we did enjoy it for a good half hour before they were all complaining of the heat. We took a drink break and then headed for the farm. The farm was MUCH cooler with all of the shade trees and the wonderful breeze on the hill. We enjoyed our picnic lunch and then it was time for the slip and slide! They all enjoyed it, even the ones that are normally a little shy with the slip and slide. It is so neat to watch the older children help the younger ones when trying new things! We stayed a little longer at the farm, simply because it was cooler, the kids were having a ball and everyone was SMILIN'!!! ;-) Now that we are back home, the little ones are napping and the older ones are watching Beverly Hill Chihuahua 2! I thought after our busy morning outside, they could use a little cool down treat of a movie this afternoon! Have a great weekend and we'll see you all back here on Monday f |
