We finished up our Calendar for September and counted all the way to 30! WOW!! We worked on our Let's Find Out Rebus Books for our project and talked all about what makes us special! I will be updating the newsletter and web page during naptime today, so
We had a busy morning and TOTALLY enjoyed the beautiful weather outside! We did our usual trip to City Carton and also made a stop at The Arc to pick up some paperwork (their business hours don't allow me to stop in after work). After we got home from our errands, we came home and played outside! We had fun picking up pine cones (and got a little sticky from the sap). We also made a trip over to see how our pumpkins were doing in the pasture, they seem to be doing fine and we hope they are ready for Halloween!

Tomorrow is SHOW & TELL and your child can bring anything they want, as long as it fits inside their Show & Tell Tote (they are in your cubbies). Also, please see the IMPORTANT tab for information regarding our Cedar Rapids House.
We actually enjoyed two outside play times this morning because our morning outdoor play session was cut short by rain, so we went back out after lunch, to enjoy the sunshine! Today was a day of review and repetition of songs, rhymes, signs, letters, shapes, colors and numbers! We had fun going over our bulletin boards and reviewing the vocabulary words and our Spanish words. After we did a review, the children had fun watching me update the bulletin boards for October. We're going to have a lot of fun as we talk about Fall, Fire Safety, Seasons and Web Wonders! October will be a BLAST!!! Have a great afternoon and don't get blown away...it's getting windier In our Weather song, we ask if it's sun, rain or clouds...but today it was foggy! And boy did that fog hang around today! We did enjoy some time outside, but it was only for a walk (the playground was too wet from the rainy night and foggy morning).
We finished up our Harvest Basket craft and did crayon rubbings on it to see what would happen! It was just like a leaf rubbing and was fun to do! Be sure to hang the kid's door hangers up on their bedroom door! We reviewed a lot of songs, fingerplays and signs today. We also revisited our yoga moves and worked on our headstands with the big exercise ball! I'm still waiting on our curriculum, as soon as I get it, I'll get the Parent Packets ready to go for October! What a nice change in weather for us today! We enjoyed getting outside today and going for a walk and playing outside. The kids are still loving Luke and Princess and how silly they get when we go outside. As soon as we get to the climber, Luke is up there, enjoying it with the kids. Princess likes to play Hide and Seek with the kids under the slide, it really is pretty cute to watch! ;-)
We reviewed all of our songs today and worked on doing all of the actions. We also sang the Dino Dance-O Song, which goes along with the tune of Hokey Pokey. We started to work on our Harvest Basket Craft and we'll finish it up tomorrow. All of the kids are getting the hang of our routine now, and look forward to project time! We read Baby Dinosaurs and also sang, Who Stole the Cookie from the Cookie Jar after we listed as many C words as we could. And guess what, Cookie, was the first word! Our days are always subject to change, and today was one of those days! We had planned on going to Storytime at the Ely Library, but the weather wasn't cooperating too well for us. Plus we had two kiddos with some really runny noses. I thought it might be best to stay in out of the rain and try to keep from spreading our germs to other kiddos.
Even though we didn't go anywhere, we had a busy morning at the house! We started off right after breakfast by starting our Crockpot Applesauce in celebration of Johnny Appleseed's birthday, today! The house smells SUPER YUMMY right now! After the kids left for school, we started on our Show & Tell Bags. We still needed to make one for Braden and one for Kaitlyn, plus we added some to Ally's bag, too! After our "extra" fun stuff, we started in with our daily routine. The kids are doing really well at Calendar and Circle Time...they love to sing songs! We focused on our final Lesson for this month's Bible Story and then we made a REALLY cute craft to take home! We learned that 'God loves us to the core'! Have a snuggling Monday evening out of the rain Next week we will be finishing up our Dinosaur Daze and Apple Themes and getting ready to roll into our October Calendar! Where has the year gone?? Monday is Johnny Appleseed's Birthday, so we plan to make our Homemade Applesauce! We'll also be going to Library Story Time in Ely on Monday morning.
We wrapped up the week with review of our songs and rhymes, going over our sign language for the month and focusing on our CIRCLE shape while we shared our Show & Tell! We had some GREAT Show & Tell items! Kaitlyn brought a book about shapes, and CIRCLE was the very first shape in the book! Ally brought a really fun Space Ball that was fun to roll around! Braden also brought a fun ball to share and two ultrasound pictures (cut into a circle shape), showing off his little sister! We'll be leaving for the Hawk Walk this afternoon and enjoying all of the BIG kids at school! We'll return around 3:30ish and have our snack and wind down the day with a San Diego Zoo vi Tomorrow is SHOW & TELL SOMETHING CIRCLE SHAPED! Also, we will be going to Prairie View in the afternoon for the Hawk Walk Fundraiser to walk with Harrison and Tori's Classes (see Important Link).
We enjoyed the GORGEOUS fall weather today! We walked down to the bus stop this morning right after breakfast, then we started our day with Calendar and Circle Time. We reviewed our songs for the month and learned a new song, "Wiggle Your Dino Parts". For our project today, we made ONE BIG VOLCANO together and it looks awesome! Be sure to check it out when you pick up tonight (it will be on the kitchen counter). After we made our volcano, we played with playdough and made dinosaur fossils (and cookies, cakes and snakes)! We really enjoyed playing outside this morning and we are loving this weather! I can't wait to get our playground area set up the way I am invisioning it! For the time being though, the kids are loving it the way it is! Luke and Princess love it too (Luke climbed up the climber and went down the slide too)! Silly cats! Have a super Thursday! Check out the IMPORTANT NEWS link, I have posted info about Friday's Hawk Walk
B, B, B...we named all kinds of B Words today! We made imaginary balls and played Big, Bigger and Biggest with them! We finished our Scarlet Sculptures and practiced signing the word red some more! We sang our Apples Everywhere Song and the T-Rex Stomp Song! The kids are really getting into circle/calendar time now, and it's so cute to watch them sit and listen during this time! Ally brought a book for us to read, it was titled Dinosaurs! I was planning to get the playdough out this afternoon and make fossils, but everyone will be leaving fairly early, so we'll save that for tomorrow! Have a SUPER afternoon! We had a fun morning doing a lot of review (if you haven't figured this out yet, we do a lot of reviewing of the monthly theme with the Buttercups). Repeating and reviewing is how little ones learn best, so we do a lot of the same songs and games each month. Believe it or not, they don't get bored with it, they like doing something that they already know!
we talked a lot about the color red, today. We reviewed our signing and we started to make our Scarlet Sculptures. The children colored with red crayons and then they used a stamper with red paint to add some more to their sculpture. We'll let it dry tonight and add more to it tomorrow! We enjoyed the weather this morning, playing in the backyard, going for a walk and checking on our pumpkins to see how they are growing! Luke and Princess had fun following us all around the yard! Have a great afternoon and don't blow away!!! Boy that wind has come up! Oh, what a fun day!!! First of all, we had our new friend, Braden, here to play with us today. We also had Harrison and Tori here today since they didn't have school. We had SO MUCH FUN at the Apple Orchard! We enjoyed picking our own apples, and tasting a few while we picked them. Then we went inside to see the bees and watch them work on making their honey! That was really neat! After that, we enjoyed playing in Haybale Mountain and then we went on a hay rack ride through the orchard. What a beautiful day to enjoy the apple orchard together!
Everyone went right down for naps (I think all of the mountain climbing wore them out) and we are planning to enjoy some of the fresh apples for our snack this afternoon. YUM YUM! Before we went to the Apple Orchard, we did our Faith Lesson. We reviewed the bible story and talked about what happened to Adam and Eve after they disobeyed God, they had to leave the Garden of Eden. As a craft, we made a sneaky snake. After we made our snakes, we retold the story and used them as props. Have a WONDERFUL Monday afternoon! |
