Today was our typical Friday outting and lots of fun with Show & Tell toys today! We had a basketball, a draccula teddy bear, a purse with some lipstick and a kitty, an ice cream cone set and a cool electronic farm toy with a phone! As you can image, ALL of these toys were a hit today! We had a little bit of a harder time sharing today, but at this age, it is to be expected! ;-) After our morning circle and calendar time, we headed into town. We got a jump start on our October learning (fire prevention month) as we heard the Ely Fire Department sirens go off just as we were leaving. Then we had to stop for a firetruck and a police car with their sirens going (Zoe does a VERY good impression of a firetruck siren)! Even though this was VERY exciting for the kids, I always get that sick feeling knowing how terrible a fire can be! We even got to see the firemen at work, as there was a tractor that was completely engulfed in flames in the middle of a field. We said a little prayer for the farmer and hope that he was safe from harm! We drove back by the scene on our way home, and it was a total loss on the tractor!! So sad and scary! On a side note, Heath gave in to his head congestion and went to the doctor today and is now on antibiotics for a sinus infection as well! He is home this afternoon and resting. Let's HOPE AND PRAY that October will bring healthy kids and parents!!! I know we are all sick of being sick!
Reminders for Monday: Curriculum Fee Due ($30), Monthly Payments Due and Wipes Due

Reminders: Tomorrow~weekly payments due and it's Show & Tell day! Tomorrow is FREE CHOICE for Show & Tell!
We couldn't have asked for a better day for the Walk a Thon!!!! PERFECT weather! A HUGE THANK YOU to Kristy (Drew's mom), for helping out today! For those of you that didn't know, Kristy is a first grade teacher at View, so she was able to help out when the 1st Graders came out to walk. The timing was perfect! The kiddos did a great job during Harrison's time and then we ate a snack while we had some down time, but when it was time for Tori's group, the kiddos were pretty much done!!! Thankfully, Kristy came to the rescue and also got some special time with her little man! She also took Drew, Kaitlyn and Zoe into the play area while I took Corbin and Ally in the stroller to walk around the trail with Tori's class! THANK YOU!!! As a mom, I love being able to do these things and there was no way we would have been able to walk with Tori's class (everyone was tired and ready to call it quits)! It all worked out great because Harrison is definitely at the stage of 'who are you' when mom and dad are around with his friends, so he really didn't seem to mind that we didn't walk with him (I barely got him to look at us)! Tori, on the other hand, was THRILLED to have the kids and I there! Again, THANK YOU KRISTY!!! We will see how naptime goes, I know they are all tired, Busy, busy, busy...was our day!!! Before I begin, though, don't forget, tomorrow is the Prairie View Walk a Thon, so we will be leaving around 9:30 and returning around noon (as long as everyone is happy)! I'm going solo tomorrow, Grandma Betty is busy, so we will see how everyone does! It does sound like it will be a nice day for it, but be sure to dress in layers since we will be outside all morning.
We enjoyed talking about the Earth some more and about rocks! We learned a new song called, Where Are You Pretty Rock?. We also went on a rock hunt when we were outside. Before we could go outside, though, we had a lot of work to do! We did today's art project, which was Lovely Leaves! I helped the kids do a leaf rubbing on their papers and then they glued tissue paper leaf cutouts to their paper, too! After we were done with our project, our extra work started! Since we missed last Thursday's portfolio day, we had to get that caught up and then since we will be gone all morning tomorrow, we went ahead and did our Number pages in our portfolios! Have a great afternoon!! What a wonderful day it has been! This is your warning for our house...the box elder bugs have surfaced!!! We are being invaded today! We'll get our good ol' bug spray this weekend and try to get them under control, but until then...RUN fast when you are outside!!
We did our Faith Lesson today and finished up our discussion about when God created Adam and Eve and God made each one of special! We made a I Am Special Book. We glued glitter on a snowflake, we colored our hair and eyes, we colored the Earth and we added a candle with flame to a birthday cake to show how old we are! They are really cute little books. Once we were done inside, we headed outside to enjoy this beautiful day! We walked to the mailbox and then once we were back up to the house, we played and played on the jungle gym! The kids are just loving the steps, tunnel and slides!! Jake did great with the kids when we were outside and the kids LOVED having him around. Of course, Sconey and Princess had to get in on all of the attention and make sure they were noticed, too! Have a great a Oh, I think we are getting to be on the mend here!!! Only a couple of runny noses today and not many coughs or sneezes!! YEA!!! However, a few still look a little pink-eye-ish, so I will wait and see how everyone is looking after naps (that usually will tell a lot) and if I see some signs of it, I will shoot you an email. Please know that your child needs to be being treated for it if they are showing signs of it in order to come to daycare. I agree, it stinks to have to go to the doctor for pink eye, but we have to get it under control or it will easily make 'round 2' through here if we don't get those showing signs treated! It really is like wild fire!!
Aside from all of our germ sharing, we had a GREAT Monday!!!! We went to the library for story time this morning and LOVED seeing everyone. The kids do a great job sitting and listening to the story, helping with story boards and singing songs! After story time, we took advantage of being out and the nice weather and headed to the park. The kids had a blast on the green slide, the horses and the big sandbox!! You sure could tell it was Monday by the time we HAPPY EARLY BIRTHDAY to ZOE!!!! She will be 2 on Sunday!!! We are looking forward to her yummy cupcakes this afternoon! YUM YUM!
We will be going to the library for story time on Monday. Today was a good day, I am starting to feel much better and even though it was a rainy day, it was a good day to stay inside, work on our projects and play with our toys for Circle Show & Tell day! We talked about tomorrow being the first day of autumn and then one of our projects was to make a terrific tree (and that they are)! We used a lot of fall colors and the kids pressed paint between paper and wax paper to make trees! I LOVED Ally's look on her face after she pressed out the paint with her hands, then turned them over to see the paint on her hands (which wasn't there) and she looked at me and motioned, where is it? SO CUTE!! I guess we are used to getting messy with paint, here! Don't forget to bring those jackets each morning and take them home in the afternoons! It is EASILY 10 degrees cooler out here in the wind and open space we have! Help keep our little ones warm while we play outside!
We had a good day (and no tumbles)!!! We talked about recycling and taking care of our Earth. We also read the book, I Love Our Earth. We learned a new song called, Pick Up The Trash, too! We also talked about our homes and house nice and cozy they are. A fun song we learned was called, High in the Pine Tree and it was about a little bird nest. For our project, we made a Birdie Bed! We tore and glued brown tissue paper to a tray and then we glued red feathers to the inside of our nest! Of course, we had fun tickling each other with the feathers before we glued them into the nests! Have a great afternoon and don't blow away!!!! WHERE do I begin??? First of all, when you pick up tonight and see my lovely eye (not so much), just know that I am VERY happy to have my first black eye and VERY thankful that Mr. Corbin let me take the blunt of our tumble today! Yep, I was holding Corbin and tripped on the edge of the couch and totally wiped out! Thankfully, Corbin just grazed the edge of the couch! I think our tumble scared him more than anything! WHEW...close call! I guess there is a first for everything!!! ;-)
Before all of that excitement at the beginning of lunchtime, we had a wonderful morning! We talked more about our wonderful earth and how to help keep it clean! We sang a song called, Let's All Help. Today was also our Faith Lesson day, so we worked on some new songs and talked about how we are all special! We reread our book, called Bog Made You Special. For our project, we made MY REFLECTION with a mirror board, craft sticks, markers and crayons! After we were done making them, we sang, I Am Special, together! Next, it was time to get outside....it was FABULOUS outside this morning! We walked down to get the mail and then played on just about everything on the playground! Trikes, swings, jungle gym and the playhouse were all used and explored today! We just LOVE fall weather!!! Yea, the rain held off for us this morning and we were able to go to the Apple Orchard!!! Everyone got to pick an apple and everyone also each got a honey stick to take home! YUM YUM!!! The apples were 'slim pickins', but at least we were able to each get one (we had to really search just to find enough for each child to have one)!!! After we were done searching and picking apples, we headed to the school bus, witch and haybale mountain!!! The kids had sooo much fun climbing on haybale mountain!!!! Everyone was tuckered out by the time we left and everyone took a little siesta on the way back to the house!
Several kiddos still have quite a cough, so we are hoping everyone can get a good nap in and feel well rested for this afternoon! We bought some apple cider to try out this afternoon with our snack...YUM YUM!! Have a great afternoon! REMINDER: Don't forget that we are going to the Apple Orchard on MONDAY...please bring $2.00 CASH for your little ones to get a special treat at the orchard!
GO HAWKEYES!!! We were all cheering them on today, along with a 'closet UNI fan'! LOL We had a GREAT Football Frenzy Party Day! I made a brave move this morning and everyone had a cream filled football shaped donut!!! OH MY, good thing it's Friday! Really, the sugar intake didn't seem to affect them much today! We had a GREAT time this morning!! We made Hawkeye Pom Poms and we colored with black crayons and markers on a gold sheet! We definitely had TEAM SPIRIT today! |
