We had a small group today, but we had our good friend, Rylan, back for a few days, since he doesn't start school until Thursday. I think Benny was especially happy to see Rylan since he was a little sad with his big brother going off to Kindergarten today. It was misty/rainy most of the morning, so we just stayed inside and enjoyed a quiet Monday morning. The kids had fun with manipulative toys, trio blocks and the dragon set. Even though we don't have our curriculum yet, we got into our routine and had a project time and everyone picked out a shape coloring page to work on. We practiced writing our names and thoroughly enjoyed using NEW markers and crayons from their art boxes! For lunch, we ate pork loins with gravy, potato bites, corn and fruit cocktail with milk. We had a couple start to doze off during lunch (these darn Mondays are rough)! Since Rylan is still here and getting ready for Kindergarten on Thursday, we continued on with books about school for story time. After quiet book time, lunch clean up and mid day disinfecting, we read OFF TO KINDERGARTEN! The littles are down napping and Rylan and I are sorting through books for the new year and our new curriculum. See everyone this afternoon!

Monday is the BIG day! Our Kindergarteners (at least some of them) are starting school! I can't believe we have been together this long (I will be shedding tears with all of you). Happy Friday! If my blog looks a little different, bear with me...my phone is cashing out, so it looks like I'll be getting a new phone soon :( No cute pictures to go with our blog today-sorry! We had Elsa, a padded football player, a coach and a lipstick, bracelet wearing young lady in her pjs today! The kids loved being silly! We went to the timber to check on the goats this morning and then came home to play outside until lunchtime. It was hot and sticky, but there was a nice breeze every once in awhile that helped out a lot! We are REALLY hoping that the storms take it easy on us later today-we don't need a repeat of 8/10. For lunch today, we ate PB&J, apple slices and cheese sticks. It was a simple lunch, but definitely a favorite (I didn't have any leftover scraps to feed the chickens today). The littles are napping, the bigs are playing, I just sent out emails to everyone for Contract Wrap Ups and my biggest took his first adventure on the road with friends (please pray for him and me)! Parenthood just keeps throwing curve balls at us. Harrison just called, after picking up two friends and said the car was acting weird, so he pulled into Tractor Supply. Thankfully, Heath words nearby, so I passed that issue onto Heath! ;) Hoping you all have a fabulous weekend before we kick off school! We'll be cheering on the Prairie Hawks from home today for their first football game, but we will be there loud and proud tomorrow to cheer on our runners! We love football, but PXC is in our blood! Both kids are excited to be running for the team tomorrow with all of the new restrictions, they actually had to "make the team" to be able to run-only 30 runners from each school and we are so excited and proud they both made the team! Tori will be running for the Fresh/Soph team of 10 and Harrison will be running for the Varsity team of 10. Woo Hoo! Go Prairie!
Tomorrow is our last day of summer (that’s the plan anyway)! ☀️ We are celebrating with a Silly Summer Sendoff! Kids can wear whatever they want (PJs, costumes or goofy clothes)-anything goes!🤪 We were a sweaty mess playing outside this morning, but fresh air is much needed, so we had our water bottles and kept hydrated while playing in the back yard. We came in at 11 and enjoyed Free Play inside while we cooled off with trio blocks, magnetic boards, puzzles and nat geo kid magazines! For lunch, we had beef stew, green beans, vanilla yogurt and bread and butter. After lunch clean up and quiet book time, I read some back to school books for story time. We read PANDA KINDERGARTEN, IF YOU TAKE A MOUSE TO SCHOOL and FISH SCHOOL. I just got the littles settled in for naps, so we’ll have an afternoon snack after naptime and either play inside or outside (or both)! Stay cool!
Well, I see yesterday’s blog didn’t post! So sorry! Technology and upgrades always cause issues! 😞 Inside play this morning was waffle blocks, cars, animals and the trio blocks again! Quite the imaginations! When Harrison and Tori returned home from practice, we all loaded up and went to the timber to do our daily goat check. The kids hadn’t been for awhile and Emery hadn’t ever met them-so we went and gave them water and got a few goat snuggles in. We came home and played outside until lunch time. It wasn’t too bad in the shade-but still pretty warm out there. For lunch, we ate turkey and dressing, mixed veggies, orange smiles and milk. After quiet book time and lunch clean up, I read JUST ME AND MY PUPPY and THE PIGEON WANTS A PUPPY, in honor of National Dog Day!🐾 The littles are napping and the bigs are chilling with toys inside, where it’s cool!
All supplies, contracts and curriculum fees are due today. I know there is some difficulty in finding disinfecting wipes-just bring them in when you can. I need time to prep art boxes, supplies, enter child info records/files and calculate payment plans-thank you to those that have already brought everything in! Whew-definitely a hot one today! Once everyone arrived, we wrapped up Free Play (trains, trio blocks and manipulatives) to head outside to play before it got too hot. While outside, they enjoyed the tent (not too long though, it was too hot inside), tag, bags and swinging. The kids were hot and ready to go in by 11. That’s when we went over how we are going to ease into mask wearing. So while we cooled off inside with toys, the kids wore their masks and did a great job!😷 For lunch, we had chicken nuggets, watermelon and a cold pasta salad-a refreshing summer lunch on a hot day! After lunch clean up, the kids put masks back on and enjoyed quiet book time with a partner (if they chose) and I cleaned up from lunch and did a mid day disinfecting. After quiet book time, I read two books to the kids and now the littles are down napping and the bigs are enjoying THE PEANUTS MOVIE. Stay cool out there and please bring in any supplies, contracts, forms this afternoon! Thank you!
Happy Friday! Can we PLEASE have another week like this week’s weather? It has been amazing!☀️ Free play this morning while everyone arrived was Legos, Princess and Ponies, Animals and Foam Building Blocks. Once everyone was here and I revamped the Cubby/Coat area, we were outside to play until lunch time! The kids enjoyed fort building with the new pallet fort that Corbin and Heath built yesterday and then they decided to break open unripe pears that were given to us. After that, there was wiffle ball, hide and seek, and the favorite-kitten snuggles! For lunch, we had Cheesy Rotini Chicken & Asparagus, mixed veggies and pears (not the unripe, dissected ones) and milk. After lunch clean up, it was quiet book time paired up with a buddy. Corbin was with Benny, Graham was with Emmie and Charleigh was with Maddox-they all looked and read books together very well! After I had lunch cleaned up ad mid day disinfecting done, I read THE SNATCHABOOK and WHAT IF YOU HAD ANIMAL FEET? The littles are down napping and the school agers are getting ready to go outside to play some more on this beautiful day! I hope everyone has a great weekend!
Welcome to Lil’ Peeps, Emery! We were once again blessed with another gorgeous day! We are soaking in as much sunshine as we can on the last of our summer days! We’ll be on ‘summer schedule’ next week and then, once school starts, we’ll get back into our groove of Calendar/Circle Time/Project Time and more! I’ll be ordering curriculum on Monday, so we hope to start it on September 1st. I’ll be getting out a mass email to wrap up details of what our year will start out looking like, since it’s a little different than previous years.😉 Today, the kids continued on with FORT BUILDING while we were outside! The Derecho left them lots of resources for survival on the farm! We also made a fun fort with the blankets hanging on the clothesline. Of course, the kittens continue to be exciting and fun while we are outside. For lunch, we had fish patties, potato wedges, peas and carrots, orange smiles and milk. Since we have preschoolers and schoolagers, and we will for some time, after lunch clean up, we paired the kids off for quiet book time together. They loved having a reading buddy.📚 After I had lunch cleaned up and the mid-day disinfecting done, it was story time. I read DUCKS! and WHAT COULD THAT BE? Maddox and Emmie are down for their afternoon naps and the big kids will be going back outside to play some more. Have a great afternoon!
Weekly fees due tomorrow morning. We have been blessed with another absolutely beautiful day! We were outside playing all morning and loving it! The kids have willingly been picking up sticks and branches, as they are building a fort under one of our pine trees in the back yard. It’s keeping them busy, using their imaginations and creativity and they are collecting sticks/branches into one area-it’s a win for everyone! For lunch, we had pork loins, potatoes, corn and fresh fruit. They gobbled it up, so it must have been good! Corbin went to a friend’s house to play, Benny is napping and the 5 year olds requested a movie~TANGLED, it is. We heard that Heath’s mom and sister are headed this way, so they will probably be here at pick up time today. As soon as our movie is over-outside we’ll be going again!
We are back to normal drop off/pick up for the time being. Once the electrician can get here, we may have a day where we have to meet at the end of the driveway again. We had a very small group today and all school agers, so we are putting ourselves to work volunteering. I had reached out to our elderly neighbors, but they were all good on storm clean up, so a friend of ours over on Spanish Rd had neighbors behind her that still needed help with easy clean up (sticks, raking), so we are headed there now to work for a couple of hours. We have a snack packed and water bottles along with rakes, shovels and tarps-so we will do what we can to help. See everyone this afternoon!
Emails sent yesterday about this week’s plans, drop off and pick up procedures (please text ahead of time). First of all-be so very proud of the brave kiddos during last week’s storm-they were awesome! A first for me in actually having to ‘take cover’ with the kids. They all know how to curl into a ball, cover their heads and stay calm in a crazy situation. No tears at all! Thank you all for understanding the closure following the storm, no electricity, no water, lots of dangerous equipment all around, widow makers hanging all around the yard and downed power lines-just not a safe environment for anyone, especially kiddos.
It’s a new week though-so we are going to continue to go with the flow. We played outside all morning, which was good, because REC showed up at lunchtime to work. We will stay inside until they leave. It has been very entertaining for the kids to watch though. We have a new pole, but until an electrician can reset the wires, we’ll continue with drop off and pick up at the end of the driveway (which may be a couple of weeks). I’m positive we’ll have some insurance adjuster days ahead and who knows what else, so we will just take it day by day. Thank you all for understanding and to those who reached out to help. I know everyone was busy with clean up, so know the gestures were much appreciated. 2020-only 4 more months!!!! |
