We did a lot of review since today was our last day of the month and we also talked about May Day and Mother's Day. We hope to start making some May Day Baskets this afternoon (looks like it might be an inside play kind of day, later). We did get a late start to our afternoon naps, so we didn't start to snuggle in until about 1 pm, so some kiddos didn't go to sleep until 1:15ish.
Can it really be the last day of April?? Where did that month go? Monthly Payments and Wipes are due tomorrow!Parent packets are in the cubbies, along with your Parent & Child Magazines that came in the mail this morning. We enjoyed our usual Monday with a trip into Ely for story time. Liz did a great job today and the kids really had fun listening to books about monkeys and singing fun songs! The library was getting ready for their book sale, so we got to sit in the children's area on bean bags for story time!

Friday Fun!!! We had a GREAT Show & Tell Day and everyone did a great job of sharing their toys from home with their friends! We enjoyed our typical Friday of going into Cedar Rapids this morning and then when we got home, it was snack time and project time. We read our Let's Find Out Magazine Rebus Reader Book and had to guess what was going to hatch out of the different shells. We saw pictures of baby birds, baby snakes, baby sea turtles and even baby frogs! We did a lot of reviewing since it's towards the end of the month and we had a good time singing and dancing to songs and playing FREEZE! We all got pretty good at being statues when the music would stop (once the giggling stopped)
We took total advantage of the nice weather since the cooler weather is on it's way! We enjoyed so much time outside this morning! I just love watching the kids play and interact together...such a SUPER group of kiddos! Before we went outside, we finished up our art project of our Spring Flower from yesterday. Everyone got to color their stems and petals and then we added their VERY colorful coffee filters from yesterday. They even smelled really good, too! We had fun talking about more colors today, and we sang the song, The Color Pokey. It was a silly song, but it was full of learning our colors and our clothing and we DEFINITELY got some good wiggles out of our systems! Tomorrow is SHOW & TELL and we won't get to see Amber for Music tomorrow, but she'll be back next Friday!
I've never been a Kool-aid mom, but boy, can you have some fun with it when talking about art! We were quite the artists today using kool-aid, coffee filters and clothespins! It's just the beginning of our Spring Flower Art Project, so we will finish them up tomorrow. Our fingers are red, purple and blue and the house was filled with fruity smells, so I am positive it was a HIT with the kiddos! We had fun singing our I'm An Artist song and learning a fun Tip Toe Tulip song, too! We also started talking about an upcoming holiday and what we should treat our mommies to this year???? ummmmm... HAPPY WEDNESDAY!
Colors, colors, colors! We had fun with all of our colors today! Our Look For Colors song helped us search our clothes for different colors we were wearing. We also reviewed the alphabet some more and practiced making the Letter X in Sign Language. We also worked on our Faith Lesson today and talked about why Jesus prayed in the Garden. For our Bible Art Project, we made a Glorious Garden to remind us of all the places to pray. The kids enjoyed painting with glue and green paint and then we sprinkled "grass" on top of it. After it dried a little, we glued more grass to the project and then stuck flower stickers all over it. They are BEAUTIFUL! After all of our hard work this morning, it was time to get outside and play, play, play! We had so much fun exploring outside and running around in the fresh air. Have a super Tuesday afternoon!
My BAD!!! I changed our plans for this morning! With our busy weekend, I forgot to put the car seats back in the Saturn from them being in Heath's truck over the weekend while we were traveling, so we didn't go to library this morning! ;-( It was nice to just be home though and not rushing out the door to go anywhere, so I'll take it! We introduced the letter X today (we are almost through the alphabet) and we talked about art and artists! For our project, we worked on our What's Different Learning Sheets. We had to find the flower that was different! We had fun coloring with markers and crayons. We did enjoy the sunshine this morning, although it was a little cool. We had fun pretending it was snowing with all of the Chinese Elm Trees in the area and the nice breeze! Have a super Monday afternoon.
This morning was busy, busy, busy! After Calendar and Circle Time, we left to go into Cedar Rapids to City Carton and what a great day to do that, because we talked about Sunday being Earth Day! We also learned more about things in the sky and sang a song called Up In The Sky. We had a few sprinkles get us when we were outside, but that's okay, we are talking about the rain and puddles, too! For a fun activity in the house, we did some baby yoga and we had fun with our musical instruments too. Amber came to visit us today and we once again, LOVED HER! The kids sit in amazement at her instruments and they enjoyed the maracas, drums and playing the guitar again. They really loved playing with the scarves today, too. Wishing you all a fantastic weekend!!!
It's a good thing we are still learning our "rain" songs and finishing up our rain puddle art projects! Even though it was rainy today, we enjoyed singing our songs and putting our names in them (I love how the kids point to each other when I say their names in a song)! We also focused more on space travels too, we learned a song called "ZOOM!". We even practiced counting backwards so we could BLAST OFF! The rain puddle art project turned out SOOOO CUTE! They are still a little wet, so be careful on the way home! Have a fantastic Thursday, too bad we can't all take naps on rainy days like this, huh?
Even though it's been kind of a dreary day, it has worked in perfectly with our topic! RAIN!! We learned how to sign the word rain and we sang lots of songs about the rain, too! We also talked about being astronauts and going to space. We read a Dora book called, Zoom Off to the Moon. We got to move our bodies around a lot while we walked like astronauts in their space suits and while we sang a new song called, Reach High. For our project, we started to work on our Rain Puddles! It involved corn syrup, glitter, blue paper and our fingers...so you know we had a good time! Since the drizzle was happening during our outdoor time, we stayed inside and had fun playing with BUBBLES!!! Who doesn't love playing with bubbles, even Sarge had a blast! Silly dog!! Enjoy the rest of your day!
No wind, lots of sunshine and plenty of birds chirping...sounds like a great day to me! We did enjoy the nice weather later this morning after our busy morning of Free Play, Calendar, Circle, and Project Time. For our free play time, we got out the ponies and the puppets! Talk about a lot of smiley faces! We worked on more Letter W words and went over our topics from yesterday (we really like our Zoom Around the Room song). We learned how to say airplane in Spanish (avion) and we learned another new song called Little Airplane. Today was our Faith Lesson day, so we also reviewed our Bible Story and what Jesus did in the garden and how important the power of prayer is. We also sang the song, Pray Everyday. Our project was to work on our Bible Art. We made a statue of My Prayers so we can remember that God has heard our prayers. Have a SUPER Tuesday!
