Next week, we are planning to talk about owls to go along with our Farm theme! How fun to see one up close and personal today! Our project today was to make a Peek a Boo Barn (a great way to practice those farm animal sounds)! Our outdoor play time was cut a little short because of Luke comi
Yesterday I posted pictures of our trip to The Raptor Center earlier this summer and today I was calling the Raptor Center. We got a special treat today as we had TWO visitors! Our first visitor was discovered early this morning...Heath found an owl in our wood burning stove in the living room. He attempted to get it out, but was afraid he would hurt it, or it would get loose in the house. I called the Raptor Center before calling the DNR and they were happy to come out and help us out with our little visitor. Luke came out about 10:45 and the kids and I watched, in awe, as he took the little owl out of the stove. He was GREAT! He held the owl and let the kids see it and told us all about it. He said it was a screech owl, full grown and seemed to be very healthy and not too dramatized from it's stay in our stove. He said he would take it back to the clinic, give it a bath, feed it a big meal and make sure it was okay to release back to the wild. I will send out a photo of our little friend soon.
