Now, the GOOD news!!! We made it to Library today!!! Yea...no 'presents' as we went to leave! However, we ended up leaving before story time was over...but it really wasn't the kid's fault. There was a substitute librarian today and she just wasn't moving at 'toddler speed', so she pretty much lost all control about halfway through the story time. At that point, I had one in tears because he wanted held, one in tears because he wanted the felt board piece back and one running away....so I just bundled them up and we went home to play outside! Problem solved and they were all MUCH happier outside! ;-) It is CHILLY out with that wind, so be sure to send a HAT for your little ones!!!!
Bad news first....we STILL have pink eye present here!!!! AHHHHHH!!! Saturday should have been my last day of drops, but I am continuing my drops because my eyes still don't feel normal yet!!! Two kiddos came today with signs and still getting drops as well...so PLEASE, if your child is showing the SLIGHTEST of signs of pink eye, PLEASE treat them so we can hopefully kill off this SUPER GERM that is in our house!!!

Luke, from the Raptor Center, called this morning and was happy to report that they little screech owl was very healthy. They gave her a bath and she ate a great big meal for them. They did bring her back out by our property yesterday afternoon and released her, hoping she will find a nest somewhere besides our stove! He also wanted to know if they could write up an article about the circumstances for their next article. How cool is that...hopfully someone will read it and make sure they have small enough screens on their vents and stove pipes (obviously, ours are not
HAPPY FRIDAY!!! What a FUN day we have had!!! Our morning fun started a little later than usual, but we still had lots of fun and because it started a little later, everything else started a little later (naps didn't happen until 1:20 today)!!! The firestation wanted to wait until after 10:30 and so I wouldn't have to get out twice today, we just waited to do our running all at the same time. We waited for Ally and when she got here, we took off to the firestation to deliver THANK YOU cupcakes to them! They LOVED the gift and all of the smiles, immitating sirens and ohs and ahs at their big trucks! They gave each of the kids stickers, hats and coloring books! They turned on the lights for the kids, but they were afraid the sirens would be too loud for them, so they held off on that! We thanked them several times for all they do and told them we would be back to visit again next year! Then we took off and went to City Carton and the bank. On the way home, we took the scenic route and drove on Old River Road...the colors were AMAZING!!! Once at home, we played with our show and tell toys and enjoyed some free time while I got lunch ready
It's snowing...wait, it's not snowing, the leaves are falling!!! The kids stared out the window this morning watching all of the leaves fall around us...so many giggles as they watched!
Tomorrow is SHOW & TELL and we visit the FIRE STATION to deliver their cupcakes that we have been making today. We had a BUSY morning! First, we beat the rain and went to HyVee to get a cake mix (the one thing I thought I had and didn't) for our Firefighter Treats. Then, after we were home, we worked on our Pig Pens. We used brown paint and sand mixed together to paint mud on our pigs, then we stuck a pink wikki stix for a tail! Oink Oink!! Then, we worked on our Portfolio Keepsake Monthly Page (we painted our feet white and made footprint ghosts for our October page)! BOO! Our next project was to make our cupcakes. We still haven't frosted them, but we will hopefully do that this afternoon. We also played outside when it wasn't sprinkling! So much fun to play in the leaves! Have a great Yesterday I posted pictures of our trip to The Raptor Center earlier this summer and today I was calling the Raptor Center. We got a special treat today as we had TWO visitors! Our first visitor was discovered early this morning...Heath found an owl in our wood burning stove in the living room. He attempted to get it out, but was afraid he would hurt it, or it would get loose in the house. I called the Raptor Center before calling the DNR and they were happy to come out and help us out with our little visitor. Luke came out about 10:45 and the kids and I watched, in awe, as he took the little owl out of the stove. He was GREAT! He held the owl and let the kids see it and told us all about it. He said it was a screech owl, full grown and seemed to be very healthy and not too dramatized from it's stay in our stove. He said he would take it back to the clinic, give it a bath, feed it a big meal and make sure it was okay to release back to the wild. I will send out a photo of our little friend soon.
Next week, we are planning to talk about owls to go along with our Farm theme! How fun to see one up close and personal today! Our project today was to make a Peek a Boo Barn (a great way to practice those farm animal sounds)! Our outdoor play time was cut a little short because of Luke comi Happy Birthday to Tori! She picked out a snack for everyone to have and made little cards to go with them! ENJOY! We couldn't have asked for a better day today...simply GORGEOUS!!! We even ate lunch a little late because it was just so dang nice outside, NO ONE wanted to come inside...and I didn't blame them one bit!!
Before heading out for the day, we enjoyed our Circle and Calendar Time and worked on our Faith Lesson and Project! We introduced the Number 4 and we sang the song, Five Little Mice. We also talked about what those little mice like to eat...cheese!! For our Faith Lesson, we talked about the story of Jesus healing a blind man. We read our Rebus Reader story together and then we all made Healing Jesus Puppets. Our songs we sang with our Faith Lessons today were, Jesus Healed the Blind Man, God Is So Good, What Does God Say? and My Eyes! What a fabulous day! I HAPPY OCTOBER!!! I hope everyone has been able to enjoy the beautiful colors outside, they are amazing this year!! We actually got to enjoy them a little this morning because our morning didn't go, quite as planned! That's okay though, we go with the flow and make the best of it! We were all loaded in the car to head to story time when I noticed someone had made me a special 'present'. Since we were already pushing our time because of previous 'presents', by the time I unwrapped this new 'present' and reloaded to head to story time, we were late and we didn't want to disrupt storytime by showing up halfway through the stories and songs, so, instead, we took a drive into Lake MacBride and enjoyed the beautiful colors this morning! After our little outting, we headed home so we could play outside and enjoy the fresh air. Even though the sun wasn't shining, it was still a VERY nice morning out.
Before we went on our outting and played outside, we worked on our Circle and Calendar Time. We are learning about mice this week and the farm! We read a book about baby farm animals and we sang the song, Three Fast Mice. We also had to switch our calendar and our bulletin boards! So much to do on the 1st of the month! We learned the Spanish word for black (negro) and we talked about mice and barns. I think we are going to have a great week! |
